Okay, I'm FINALLY done with all of this paperwork with this case I had awhile back. I tell ya, you have to write a report several times for everything, man! I wouldn't be surprised if sooner or later, I gotta write a report about why someone hasn't read the report yet.

Anyway, all of the sudden I keep hearing about some guy around the office. Nothing big, just little side comments about this guy called...The hell was his name...Shiryuu Rou! That's the one!

I have no idea who he is and I never heard of his name until 4 weeks ago yet when I keep asking people about the guy, I get this look like I'm supposed to know all about the schmuck.

But whatever, that kind of crap is why I have this thing. Maybe some nerd that lives in a basement and is the president of his little fan club or whatever can make themselves useful and answer that question for me.

Do you seek attention or hide from it?

Both and lemme explain that answer, man. Ya see, when it comes to doing stuff with The Gavinners or credit towards crackin' a case? Yeah, I want all the attention and recognition I can get and deserve.

Outside of that? Like when I'm just a guy picking something up from the store? I want none of it. No autographs, no photo ops (those lead to...mistakes being made years ago), none of the screamin' divas running across the road (I remember a couple of times, one of them got hit by a car), no nothin'.

If I'm at a bar and if you ain't my friend or buying the next round, I don't wanna be bothered by you, got it? A guy's gotta have his "me" time, man.

I haven't been around to update this thing and all, kinda went on a trip two weeks ago, business-related, man. Though it ended early, I still took some time off, something I rarely do. In fact, I can't remember the last time I did that ever since I became a cop.

At first, I hated the idea but after awhile, I got to thinkin' about some things. It really cleared my head, ya know? Plus, I managed to make a little goal to reach. Which I ain't gonna tell to any of you guys because it's none of your business, man.

But it's back to work for me, just in time for my birthday. Looks like I didn't miss much. though I hear we got a new guy in homicide. I'll probably run into them soon enough, beggin' for my help after they get way over their heads. Or maybe sooner than that. I didn't forget how it was when I became a detective, it'd be nice to give some newbie the same treatment I got.

What? You were expecting some kind of April Fool's joke? Sorry man, but unlike some people, I have enough work to do that keeps me from wasting time with bad jokes. Plus, nature had that covered awhile back with that freaky ass snowstorm.

Though it's always a reminder that my birthday is comin' around the corner. Maybe I should actually do somethin' when that comes around.

Apparently, our fearless leader down here at headquarters took up playing on that damn organ that was collectin' dust in his office.

Here's what I wanna know: Did anyone give him that little thought in his head? Because, man, he's TERRIBLE at it! He woke me up awhile back when I was takin' a nap while working on a case and I couldn't even call that noise music! It's so damn loud and awful that I went home after that and decided to take my work home with me and I ain't one of those people who likes doing that. If I'm at my pad, I wanna relax, not work! And I liked how quiet the joint was when I'm pullin' an all-nighter until he started playing, no one bugged me for anything or whatever!

Come on, man! I just want my damn peace and quiet, is that too much to ask?

Well, Valentine's Day is coming up. That box I had to make (been ordered to make is better fitting) is filled with a bunch of crap like letters from fans, as if the letters The Gavinners regularly get weren't enough already. Man, I bet I got a bunch of those cards from girls claiming to be my wife or somethin'. Those ones are the worst. I'm also sure I got a bunch tellin' me how much of an asshole I am, as if suddenly their cards (that convienatly withhold their names) are going to make me get all enlighted.

Psh, whatever. I only made that thing because I didn't have a choice in the matter. I stopped givin' a crap about Valentine's Day a few years back.

But now I got something better than all of that, I finally got a case that I can do that's not a waste of time! I can't go into details but that outta keep me busy for awhile.

As mandated by Chief Gumshoe, there is a simple blue box with the words "Detective Crescend, Division 3" painted in white on the front of the box sitting on a table in the entrance of the precinct.

((You know the drill: screened comments, you can do anon posts, have at it.))

Ugh...Man, I feel like crap. I haven't been this hungover since...ever, I think.

I went out to one of my usual places to drink for some reason. I don't remember why I was drinking so much but I do remember yellin' at some kids over something plus there was a bunch of people watching that guy, Engarde die on TV. Outside of that, the only other thing I remember doing at the bar was dragging some big green heavy thing out before I headed home.

Well, that is, I went to my old place at first. Old habits die hard, ya know? It's even worse when you're smashed, man. But I must have gotten home somehow because I woke up about an hour on my couch with a poundin' headache.

I wonder why I was there in the first place that night? But why do I also get the feelin' that I ain't gonna like the reason behind it?

Anyway, I should probably stop laying around and get some fresh air before getting back to work. Maybe my memory will come back to me.

Man, I can't believe I still had this old thing until I started cleaning out my old files. Last time I posted in here was...back when I was starting off in the academy? The password came back to me after I started looking at the entries I made.

Well, outside of the people I see at work (both jobs), I pretty much forgot everyone I might have met on here. Focusing on your jobs can do that to ya, man. So let me re-introduce myself.

I'm Daryan Crescend, detective for the LAPD, Division 3, International Affairs AND guitarist for The Gavinners. Chances are you probably heard of at least one of those things, yeah?

Who knows, maybe restarting this journal won't suck after all.

[What is below is a mostly rough edit. Whenever you see a note in there, it's either for something I need to communicate with another player with (if the character is currently being played by someone) or like with the background, a decision to make. So it's a bit rough and will be revised in due time.]

P.S. That Call of Stan scene never happened. )

Was gonna write about how the academy's been going for me but this just pissed me off too much to write about anything else, man.

If I had a say in anything, not only would I keep the death penalty but I'd be makin' some of changes to that damn prison. I mean, how the hell does it work out that these rat bastards commit murder, arson, rape and god knows what other felonies and here they are, writin' on their damn blogs because some friggin' hippie wanted to give them that freedom?

Not only that, but when that prison break went down and people got hurt by those damn convicts (some of them I know), what did they get afterwards? A POOL! One that the city paid for! That don't seem right with me, man. Not one friggin' bit.

All they need is a hole in the ground to go in after they get hanged. If some child killer says they are gonna kill themselves unless they get a TV or a game machine in their cell, I say let them. We ain't gonna miss that piece of garbage.

That bit about the pool pissed me off even more now that I thought about it. I hope the idiot who approved that gets canned soon. Aw screw it, I'm going to bed.

"Dear Mr. Crescend,

We are pleased to inform you that your application to the Los Angeles Police Academy has been approved. We were impressed with your list of recommendations as well as your previous experience as a deputy in service of our fine city..."

YES! Oh man, I can't believe it took them this long to let me know, I only got the letter after I came back from the beach on Saturday!

Classes start in a couple of weeks and I can't wait, dammit!

But I need to go and get rid of some of this pent-up energy before I do something crazy like throw our TV out the window.

All right, I'm back from Florida and I'm gald to be back, man.

Since I didn't have any wheels myself, I had to ride with my folks so I was prepared for a bunch of fights over anything but I came prepared as usual.

Something that I am never without when I go for a long trip is this CD I made. Got a bunch of decent songs that I can stand to listen and drown out everyone else, man. Stuff like Golden Earring's "Radar Love", Foghat's "Slow Ride", Deep Purple's "Speed King", AC/DC's "Highway to Hell" to name a few. Music that seems to make any drive down the highway all the better even if you can't stand everyone else in the car, ya know? So I had that playing through the entire trip until we got to my Uncle's place in Tampa.

I ain't going to tell you the details of what we all talked about because really, it's none of your business what my uncle Simon and I talk about alone. But man, Uncle Simon gives good advice. I always liked the face-to-face conversations more than the e-mails.

Anyway, my old man got pissed when I told everyone that I sent in my application before we left and after that long fight, I decided to not go back with my parents, that I was gonna head back my own way.

And I did, by getting a truck at a used dealership (one that was not like that one Klavier and I went to). My uncle helped pay for it as well as giving me some extra cash for whatever I needed on the road before sending on my way.

So it was just me, that road trip CD playin' as loud as possible, and the open road and man, it was pretty damn awesome. Going down the highways with no one complaining, stopping only when I wanted to eat at some cheap diner, get gas from some place in the middle of nowhere or just sleeping in the car (though I did thought about stopping at this one hotel in the middle of the desert but I kept getting a bad vibe from the place)...it was the best trip back ever.

Now that I'm back and I've got a way to get around instead of hitching rides, I can get stuff done, man. Still no word from the police academy but I got other things that need to be taken care of, with the band, football and a certain someone. Right now, I'm gonna sleep.

All right, you guys should know that I'm heading out tomorrow to Florida with my folks. Yeah, we'll probably have a bunch of boringass talks and fights on the way, but it's worth it to see my Uncle Simon there. I've been meaning to ask him about some things that I'd rather save for in person.

I also turned in my application to the Police Academy so hopefully by the time I get back, I'd get a response from them. Man, I can't wait to hear what they say, it can't be a rejection, it just can't!

I won't be back until next week, but when I come back, there are going to be something that needed to be taken care of.

Oh yeah, and if you see that Wright guy, tell him I said "Hey." Oh and "Don't forget about the ten bucks you owe me."

((You know the drill from the Redd and Valant posts, going away until Tuesday the 12th. Making these entries now so I can do a couple of replies if need be, start any scenes that can be started, or take new ideas. Anything we start and don't finish before I leave on Wednesday can be backdated.))

All right, now that the earthquake stuff is all squared away, time to get back to business, man.

First thing, "13 Years Hard Time" has been playing on the radio for a good time now as well as our CD (in fact, if you haven't bought it yet, go out and do so. Seriously, get off the damn computer and buy it) and I've heard a couple of rumors about wanting us to do a music video, man! Maybe I can get some confirmation on that since our manager is better, but just the idea makes me pretty damn happy.

Second, got my application to the academy finished, all it needs is any recommendations from people, ya know like referrences to go with a resume or whatever. So far I've pratically got one but it never hurts to get any extra support, just in case anything goes wrong, man. Of course, I'm not gonna accept everyone's offer to write one, especially if it comes from the prison, dammit.

Also, we still haven't found a runningback for the Monsters, though I've got a possible canidate that needs some convicing. In fact, I'm going to work on that right now. I'm outta here.
